For this project, we were tasked with working on money transfers. I prepared a semi-structured interview to cover the stages I will outline below and conducted interviews with 25 participants. I organized the findings based on the participants' mediums, actions, thoughts, experiences, and needs.

I mapped the full journey for one high-stakes case: sending money to a friend abroad.

The interesting part wasn't the transaction, it was the anxiety around it. Confidence rose when the user learned how to send, dropped during the routine steps, and dropped again after sending while waiting to hear it arrived.

Transfers don't have one starting point. You send to a saved friend, between your own accounts, to a new IBAN, or to a foreign account that needs SWIFT and a country. Most banking apps treat these as separate screens and make you pick correctly at the start.
